Who I am & Why I Decided To Start a Blog
Hello! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Jessi. I am 25 years old and live in Cypress, Texas with my husband, Zach, and my two fur babies, Cooper (the dachshund) and Gauge (the lab). I am a registered nurse and have been working in a general adult intensive care unit for a little over three years. Zach is a high school baseball coach and P.E./Health teacher. I was an athlete growing up and have a passion for health and fitness, as well as finding a way to allow my love for food (clean and carby kinds alike) to fit into my everyday lifestyle. My husband and I enjoy spending time together and with our families, traveling, and anything that involves a body of water.
I wanted to introduce myself and explain why I decided to start a blog before diving into other content. To be 100% honest (which I promise to always be), I wanted a space to talk about my life. I’m not entirely sure yet what I actually have to offer the blogging world, but I love to write and I hope that something I say either gives people something to think about, learn from, or build on. I wanted a space where I can talk about things and people that I experience, because as a nurse, I experience all walks of life! I wanted a place that was safe and mine and allowed me to be creative, or boring, or serious, or funny. So here we are.
I discovered my passion for writing when I was in high school. I took a dual credit english course my senior year and was really encouraged by my professor at the time to develop my skills (Coach Klepper, if you ever find your way to this blog, thank you!). I was actually honored with a district-wide award in journalism and even toyed with the idea of foregoing my plan of becoming a nurse and pursuing a career in journalism for a short while. I’m not sure if its just easier for me to get my ideas and thoughts out on paper.. er uh in text? or what but I truly enjoy writing. I enjoy the classic-ness of the written text, I enjoy the thought of someone else reading what I have to say..
I have a few definite passions that I will most likely focus on such as: nursing, food, exercising, reading, my role/relationship as a wife, and traveling.. But I plan to use this place as a catch all for now, until I find a grove or path. It may never direct itself in one specific way but I hope you enjoy what I have to say. And if you don’t, thats ok. Anyone who knows me, knows I’m up for an argument (ok, discussion, lets not get hostile here). Anyway, here goes nothin’
